Pinellas County Job Corps Student Wins Essay Contest

Pinellas County Job Corps Student Wins Essay Contest

Hats off to 18-year-old Simeon Kennedy for winning our essay contest at Pinellas County Job Corps. This contest kicks off a year-long celebration of 60 years of Job Corps.

Kennedy, a Facilities Maintenance student, says he used to write poetry when he was younger and he enjoyed writing the essay on how Job Corps has impacted his life. “Coming to Job Corps was the best decision I made,” said Kennedy.

In his essay, Kennedy writes: “Job Corps has been a transformative force in my life, shaping my

character, honing my skills, and setting me on a trajectory towards a successful future.”

Kennedy’s essay will now be sent to the regional office to compete with other Job Corps finalists to become a regional winner.
