Talented students at Pinellas County Job Corps led an impressive Student Career Training Expo for the entire community this week. More than 70 community employers, partners, parents and prospective students showed up to see Job Corps students actively demonstrating all that they’ve been learning in the construction andhealth care trades. Participants had an opportunity to go through a mock doctor’s office visit from check-in to receiving a “prescription” as part of the health care trades demo, which featured Medical Administrative Assistant, Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified Nurse Assistant and Pharmacy Technician trade students. From there, visitors got to view the hard trades, learning more about our Plumbing, Electrical, Facilities Maintenance and Carpentry curriculums. The tours of the 18-acre campus included onsite visits to the dorms, cafeteria and individual classrooms and workshops. Student confidence was bolstered when they saw that the event was a huge success.
