Today we celebrate the “Above and Beyond” award that goes to 19-year-old Jalo Cortes. The health care student was the first to volunteer to become an ambassador for the Youth2Youth initiative at Pinellas County Job Corps. She is shown here with Center Director Lana Kite on the left and staff Y2Y organizer Renitta Walton.
This Youth2Youth campaign aims to speak out about violence, drug use and mental health issues in our community and to encourage healthy choices. Cortes was one of the leaders in a recent “Break The Silence” pep rally to kick off Y2Y. Way to go above and beyond, Jalo!
