Women in Construction at Milwaukee Job Corps!

Lekisha Kimbrough has been a woman in the construction industry for sixteen years. Fortunately for the welding students at Milwaukee Job Corps, she is sharing all her wisdom, knowledge, and real-world experience as a member of the Boilermakers Union (Local #107) in Milwaukee. When asked what her favorite part of being our welding instructor is, she replied, “seeing them [the students] be interested, and taking it seriously. Watching them growing as welders.” She also enjoys their good healthy competition. “They sound like welders when they say their welds are better than others’. It’s great to hear them.”

Her students Alejandra Rosales (future woman in construction) and Jaylen Bates are “learning a lot”, and “getting experience with using all of the machines”. When asked how they felt about Ms. Kimbrough, they both replied, “we love her”.

Congratulations, Lekisha Kimbrough, you are an inspiration and an example. Thank you for your dedication to our students and for helping them prepare to take their places in the world of construction.
