On October 23, 2012, The Phoenix Job Corps Center acknowledged Red Ribbon Week by recognizing and celebrating the memory of Special Agent Enrique ”Kiki” Camarena. Camarena worked his way through college, served in the Marines, and joined the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Camarena who was working undercover in Mexico investigating drug cartels lost his life on February 7, 1985. Phoenix Job Corps students paid homage to Agent Camarena by signing a red ribbon board and wearing red badges of satin to honor Special Agent Camarena’s memory.
