Several Job Corps students attended the Arizona Teen Distracted Driving Summit at the State Capitol. This year’s summit was fueled by two bills that will be sponsored in the Sate Senate and the State House of Representatives. State Senator John McComish introduced House Bill 1056 which places restrictions on minors who receive their graduating license. One of the components is to forbid the use of cell phones while driving in the first six months of receiving their license. The other bill is sponsored by Minority Leader Steve Farley who introduced HB 1056 which a bans texting while driving in the state of Arizona. Both representative s were keynote speakers at the summit. During the sessions, students scheduled meetings with their district representatives to encourage them to vote yes on both bills. The highlight of the summit was the visit to the House Gallery where the participants of the summit were acknowledged.
