Phoenix Job Corps Nursing Assistant student Alysia Osuna has been accept by the Grafton Job Corps Center in Massachusetts for the Human Services Worker Advanced Training Program.
“I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. I was raised by a single mother who raised me and my two younger sisters. Being a single parent is not an easy feat; however, seeing my mother struggle inspired me to further my education and strive for success.”
“I have two amazing younger sisters who admire me and respect me. It has always been important to me to be a positive role model. Regardless of the road blocks that I have faced, I have perserved and am the first member to graduate high school in my family. After accomplishing this milestone, I set another goal for myself, and that goal is higher education.”
“My goal to pursue higher education led me to Phoenix Job Corps. I began this program in March 2012 and I entered the Nursing Assistant program. I completed the trade on November 16, 2012 and passed my State Boards on November 17, 2012. In addition to being State certified, I also have my Caregiver Certification, CPR/First-Aid Certification and Bloodborne Pathogen Certification. I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing people while attending Job Corps and the challenges that I have faced have been worthwhile! I am proud of my success and accomplishments.”
“While still in the Nursing Assistant program, I considered advanced training at the Grafton Job Corps Center in Massachusetts for Human Service Worker. It was a difficult decision for me to apply as I knew I would have to leave my family and friends behind. I realized that advanced training was a great opportunity for me so I got the paperwork together and started the process for aceptance into advanced training.”
“I have to thank my teacher Mrs. Ware, she encouraged me to take this opportunity. She has taught me so much whil being here at Phoenix Job Corps and she will always have a spot in my heart. She helped me prepare for my interview and I felt my interview was successful! I received a letter on January 24, 2013, stating that I have been accepted into the program! I was ecstatic!”
“The next chapter of my life begins on January 28, 2013. I know that my goal is to continue to be a role model for my siblings and to further my education and knowledge. Knowledge is something I will continue to earn and ultimately my future possibilities are endless!”
The staff and students at Phoenix Job Corps are excited for Alysia and wish her all the best. We are hoping Alysia will come back one day and share her experience and success with other students to show them if you apply yourself you can succeed.
