54 students from the Phoenix Job Corps attended the Arizona Distractive Driving Youth Summit held at the Arizona State University Union Hall on Thursday November 11th, 2010. This event was hosted by TASER International. Students participated in 3 panel discussions where the focus of the summit was “driving while texting.” Arizona ranks with in the top 10 states for the most fatalities due to distractive driving. Numerous experts in the field of automotive design and social behavior discussed norms and problems due to distractive driving. The students broke into small work groups facilitated by the panelist and discussed way to bring more awareness of the problem of texting while driving. Some of the students did Public Service Announcemnets. Actor Matt Dallas of ABC Family’s Kyle XY was also a guest speaker along with Phoenix NASCAR Driver, Michael McDowell.
