Hazelton – Students and staff traveled to Hazelton, PA to participate in the annual Academic Olympic Competition.
There was a silent tension in the air as students listened attentively to the rules for the competition. Then it was time for the competition to begin. This year’s Academic Olympics event was hosted by, the Keystone Job Corps Center. Students competed in the categories of science, math, social studies, spelling and language arts. Proudly the team stood together embracing each other after placing 5th at the competition. Shataiah Holland Keys, Administrative Medical Student, stated, “The pressure was intense for us, but exciting and I would do it again, we learned a lot about other students at their residential centers.” Students had the opportunity to meet staff and students from several different centers during the competition experience. Before heading home, students Jennifer Stroede, Eric Roach, Roosevelt Johnson, Jasmine Williams, Oluwatobi Oyewole, and Shataiah Holland-Keys enjoyed a stress free visit to Knobel’s Amusement park.
