Philadelphia Job Corps Facility Maintenance Student Completes Pre-Apprenticeship Program with Hard Work and Determination

Philadelphia, PA – Devin L. Waters completes a rigorous 5 week 40 hour pre-apprenticeship program. Mr. Walters enrolled at the Philadelphia Job Corps Life Science Institute to begin his career path as a Certified Construction worker on Oct 11, 2010. During his tenure at Job Corps, Devin completed a combo trade which included his High School Diploma as well as OSHA requirements for FM.  Within 8 months, this student was on his way to his success by becoming determined to excel in this industry with hard work and dedication.  He stated that, “If it weren’t for staff helping keep me focused on the task at hand,  I don’t know where I would be today and I “Thank” everyone for the hope and trust they had believing in me to continue and do my best.”  Prior to completing Job Corps, Mr. Walters participated in a pre-apprenticeship program with The Federation of Neighborhood Centers.  After completing Job Corps [6/11], Mr. Walters will begin working full time with the T.N Ward Company, to include  4-year apprenticeship classes; a starting salary of $24.75.  And upon program completion and passing the State Exam, Devin will likely receive a pay increase up to 20% .  This student exemplifies our commitment to performance and meeting the Job Corps Success Standards for our Believe Center.  We salute Mr. Walters and a job well done.
