(PHILADELPHIA, PA) – Today sweating to a tune, ‘move your body’, Philadelphia Job Corps Life Science Institute students and staff are excited about participating in the nationwide “Let’s Move” campaign toward getting healthy through Healthy Eating and Active Life Styles (HEALS) and increasing physical activity. The hip-hop familiar tune is Beyoncé melody ‘move your body’ pushes an energizing work out. Those that can move are doing dance routines with inspired choreography of gentle movements, gyrating twists and turns gesturing in rhythmic formation ranging from, high impact dancer, to moderate impact dancer to low impact dancer. There’s a little activity creatively achievable for anyone.

In addition to ‘Let’s Move’ and further ensure setting the health and nutrition tone for our children and families another program opportunity to promote health is: Healthy Eating and Active Life Styles (HEALS) program, which is simultaneously implemented and embraced by students and staff.

The Philadelphia Job Corps students and staff have made the commitment in the “Let’s Move” Initiative to: (1) The HEALS program at our center through Health and Wellness; and (2) Increasing physical activity
Philadelphia Job Corps, a non-residential center educate and train 513 young adults yearly. Job Corps is the most effective dropout recovery and career preparation program in the nation. The program succeeds because it is market-driven and responds to employers’ needs. Job Corps’ unique training structure allows the program to provide young adults’ not only high school diplomas and industry-recognized credentials, but also the quality social and employability skills training that employers regularly cite as the most important entry-level workforce qualification.

The Philadelphia Job Center we will continue to promote and encourage community-wide on the move “Let’s Move” concept through on-going posting food label information, preparing meals using healthy selections and portion control, and collaborate with other community base organizers creating new projects that reinforce the goals of or our local “Let’s Move” initiative.
