Building Relationships with Policy Makers: Philadelphia Job Corps Center Host Special Guest

Philadelphia, PA- Checking Congressional time lines and schedules to determine when Members of Congress will be on recess and back in the community is a challenge; typically Members return home around all major holidays and for a summer recess, so imagine the interesting twist and treat it was for the Philadelphia Job Corps Center staff and students to see Jennifer McCloskey, Legislative Assistant, from Senator Bob Casey’s Washington, DC office.  Philadelphia Job Corps student Ambassadors eagerly provided the five-star center wide tour.  Ms. McCloskey was amazed at the state-of-the-art-center, its warm and friendly atmosphere and classroom engagement.
Inviting policy makers to visit a Job Corps center is a powerful way to help them understand the value our job corps program brings to the community and the student enrolled.  In fact site visits have always had a definite impact for the Philadelphia Job Corps Center.  We were pleased to have a visit from the office of our ‘friend of Job Corps’ Senator Bob Casey and we’re looking forward to the next.
