On Wednesday, August 17th, Mary Mahoney-O’Neil, PhD, College of Education and Human Development, University of Maine, brought twelve of her Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) candidates for a visit to the Penobscot Job Corps Academy (PJCA) campus. The visit included a tour of the campus and a panel discussion with eight current PJCA students. Over the past four years during the fall and winter semesters PJCA students receive additional classroom support from MAT students completing their internship requirements. They work with students that are in need of one on one tutoring, HSD presentations, applied academic lesson planning and college applications.
