Penobscot Update: Mr. Pelletier goes to Washington!

Penobscot Job Corps student Jason Pelletier participated in the 2012 National Job Corps Student Oratory Competition. The theme is “Job Corps Works…And It Works For Me Too”!  Jason was videotaped and his testimonial was submitted to the National Job Corps Association (NJCA) in December. In the video Jason shared what he did before Job Corps, what he has learned in Job Corps and his plans after completing Job Corps. On January 13, 2012 the NJCA announced that Jason had been selected as one of three finalists, out of 60 submissions! All three finalists will deliver their speeches in front of members of Congress and other distinguished guests during the NJCA’s Breakfast for Congressional Champions in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, February 7 ,2012. Jason was born and raised in Manchester, New Hampshire. In his teens he developed an interest in medicine when his mother developed COPD. Jason worked for Area Homecare and Family Services from 2008-2011 to support his family. In September of 2011 Jason entered the Penobscot Job Corps Academy in Bangor, Maine. He is currently enrolled in the Clinical Medical Assistant program where he has a 98 average. Jason is also the recording secretary of the Penobscot student government association. Good Luck Jason!!
