Gary Theriault, Academic Instructor for the Penobscot Medical/Business cluster has recently participated in two charity bike rides. Gary attached his Job Corps patch to his riding gear in honor of the many staff and students at Penobscot who donated to the charities. In June, Gary rode the “Trek Across Maine”, a 3 day,180 mile ride from Sunday River Ski Area in Bethel, Maine to Belfast, Maine for the American Lung Association. Students and staff donated more than $240.00 to that cause. On October 9th, he biked 54 miles to raise money for cancer during the “Dempsey Challenge”. The start and finish was in Lewiston,Maine. Staff and students again donated to this cause, giving more than $125.00. Gary began riding again a few years ago, and can be seen riding his bike to work most days from May through October, providing a role model to students about healthy activities for life.
