Move Your Body The music roared, the choreography began and the video rolled as twenty-six Penobscot Job Corps Academy (PJCA) students participated in the making of the PJCA Move Your Body video. On Friday afternoon, September 23, 2011, at 1:30 pm Job Corps students throughout the nation began filming their videos at the same time. This national Job Corps initiative was inspired by First Lady Michelle Obama’s partnership with pop music star Beyonce. This past Monday, September 26, 2011 the students performed their routine in front of the entire Penobscot community during the weekly communications meeting. Loud cheers and many smiles filled the gymnasium at the end of the performance!!The goal of this project is to promote a healthier eating and active lifestyle for the Job Corps communities across the nation. The videos will be submitted to the Job Corps national office and will be showcased at the 2011 Job Corps National Health and Wellness Conference on November2-4, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland. All Centers that participated will be included in a drawing to receive a center-equipment allocation of $500 for the purchase of exercise equipment.
