Penobscot Job Corps Center had a nice time celebrating Women in Construction Week. On Monday, March 2nd, our female Advanced Marine Pipefitting and Welding students celebrated WIC Week by cooking a wonderful meal together. They made spinach ravioli, salad, and dessert. They enjoyed the meal in our Lion’s Den. Our CTT manager, Amy Ross, created WIC posters featuring all of our female hard trade students. Each poster featured a photo, her career goals, and a nice message from their instructors. Ms. Ross did a wonderful job putting these posters together and planning everything for WIC. On Tuesday afternoon our female Hard Trade students enjoyed a discussion with Brooke Shorey, who is an Auto Repair Specialist at Pelletier Ford in Lincoln, Maine. Brooke shared her story and her successes and challenges being a woman in a male-dominated field. The students asked great questions and gained a lot from the presentation.
