Lavin Testing Room dedicated at Penobscot

On Thursday November 11, 2011, HBI student Joe Busque unveiled the plaque that officially dedicated the Lavin Testing Room as many Penobscot Job Corps Academy (PJCA) staffers applauded. Joe utilized his carpentry skills to assemble a beautiful oak board that served as the centerpiece for the Lavin Testing Room plaque.  Regina Lavin was a 24 year employee at Penobscot who passed away this past summer. Regina began her career as a Business Instructor. She then transitioned to the testing coordinator role and for nine years  was affectionately known as the “TABE Lady”.  Ms. Lavin was also the longtime chair of the Penobscot teacher support committee and assisted many of the current staff as they pursued professional certifications.  During the Fall graduation ceremony at PJCA current Eastern Maine Community college student Tina Hernandez was presented a $400 scholarship in the memory of Ms. Lavin.
