The Penobscot Job Corps Academy (PJCA) is pleased to introduce the inaugural class of its new Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) program, at the Union Street campus in Bangor. The CCMA is a year-long intense course of study that will allow graduates to pursue a career in the health care field as clinical medical assistants. Students will perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory functions. The allied health competencies include billing and coding, office administration, communication and professionalism. Intensive areas of study will include assisting with medical specialties and surgeries, infection control, medical law and ethics, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, including administration of medications, ekg, phlebotomy and diagnostic procedures. Upon successful completion, student’s who pass the National Healthcare Association Examinations will receive the following certifications: Certified EKG Technician (CRT), Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT), and Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
