Laughter Yoga

To create awareness around September as Suicide Prevention Month, The Wellness department created a ‘Day of Play’ and hosted the Founder of Joy First Foundation, Katy Bee, to facilitate a Center-wide Laughter Yoga session. Laughter Yoga has been described as “A series of movement and breathing exercises to promote deliberate and voluntary laughter”, no yoga pants or mat required! Through a series of activities and improv prompts, Katy Bee engaged students and staff, resulting in smirks, smiles and even uncontrollable laughter by some. Other “Day of Play” activities included tug-of-war, dodge ball, and double-dutch. The goal for the day was to remind and educate about laughter as a tool that boost moods, strengthens immune systems, reduces stress, improves social connections and increases resiliency when faced with challenges. Check out the links below for more information on the power of laughter. #TomorrowNeedsYou Dial #988 #LaughterIsMedicine
