Old Dominion Staff Donates Food to Local Food Bank

Monroe, VA – From October 11 through October 29, 2010 Old Dominion Job Corps Center Staff collected 336 pounds of non-perishable food to be donated to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network.  The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network serves the City of Lynchburg and five counties – Amherst, Nelson, Appomattox, Campbell, and Bedford.  Old Dominion Job Corps Center is located in Amherst County, but ODJCC has students who reside in all areas of Virginia.

On Friday, November 5, 2010, a staff member and several students delivered the food items donated for the Food Bank.   Jeanne Vaughan, Business Community Liaison for Old Dominion Job Corps, said  “We heard about the critical need in the Lynchburg area for food donations and decided to act on this need for Make a Difference Day.  Our students are always out in the community volunteering and this seemed like a need our staff could impact.”
