Old Dominion Job Corps partners with Gleaning for the World

By: Kimberly McIlwee, Administrative Assistant
On Saturday, March 19th, four students volunteered to assist Gleaning for the World in collecting supplies for local families in need of baby supplies as well as the recent tragedy in Japan. Calton M., Deana K., Brittany D. and Jarrell S. stood outside of Kroger on Wards Road and greeted customers as they entered the store. They handed them flyers and informed them of how they could help. Supplies and monetary donations were collected during the time Job Corps helped Gleaning. Around 4 o’clock, our volunteers helped pack up Gleaning’s trailer by unloading the filled bins and transferring the do-nated items to the trailer. This is not the first nor last time that our students have volunteered to help.
Job Corps has partnered with Gleaning for the World to assist with many different activities to include collecting supply and monetary donations; as well as, packing medical supplies at their warehouse to be shipped out to those in need. Look to future issues for more Gleaning updates.
