My name is Preston, I want to share my Story about being off center during COVID–19.
When COVID sent you home for an extended spring break, what were you most nervous
about? I was nervous about my future, I didn’t think I would be able to find a job I was so unstable.
Once Job Corps launched its virtual learning platform, what were you most excited out?
That I’ll be able to continue my trade and start my career.
What kinds of challenges did you face as a result of COVID and being home?
My challenge, I wasn’t able to find a job because everything was closed.
How did Job Corps staff help you face those challenges? ODJCC staff helped me, by giving
me a good job reference to people they knew. ODJCC trade partners.
Do you have a favorite teacher, instructor or counselor? Yes, Mrs. Bell-Martin.
How did that favorite teacher, instructor or counselor help you? She gave me advice and
suggestions about how to handle obstacles that come my way.
What are you most hopeful about as 2021 begins? Hopefully, I will be able to get my own
place.
