The Amherst CountyChamber of Commerce held its 10th Annual Business Appreciation Awards Dinner at Sweet Briar College on Monday night, May 14, 2012. Awards were given for Small Business of the Year, Medium-sized Business of the Year, Non-Profit Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year.
The attendees to this event were not aware of the winners of these awards until they were announced and presented at the dinner. There were 28 nominees for the awards. Two small business nominees (1-10 employees) tied: Independent Lifestyles and Merredith’s Restaurant & Catering. Peebles Department Store won medium-sized business (11 to 49 employees). Blue Ridge Medical Center won non-profit of the year and Old Dominion Job Corps was awarded large-sized business of the year (more than 50 employees).
The award for Old Dominion Job Corps was presented to Jeanne Vaughan, Business Community Liaison at Old Dominion Job Corps, by the President of the Amherst County Chamber of Commerce Wanda Beverly.
