Richarson Ofori Bediako left his home country of Ghana to come to the United States. He was looking for something to do with his life. A relative told him about the Job Corps program and he enrolled at the North Texas Job Corps. Bediako was focused and determined to change his life. While at North Texas job Corps he completed the trades of Carpentry and Painting with his primary certifications and also achieved hie online high school diploma. Bediako states that “Job Corps taught me how to be independent and have good moral values. I came to the center with nothing, but with the help of my counselor, trade instructors, and the Work Based Learning Coordinators, I accomplished more that I dreamed of doing–they made me who I am today. I thank them for not giving up on me. My goal is to continue in the Brotherhood Union and live a better life.” The advice Bediako gives to his peers is “whatever you do in life, do with your heart.”
