NORTH TEXAS JOB CORPS GRADUATE TAKES CAREER PATH TO ADVANCED TRAINING

North Texas Job Corps graduate, Telieff Murray-Davis, decided to advance his career training at the Oneonta Job Corps Academy in Oneonta, NY in their SmartGrid Training program.  One of the decisions he made when he first joined NTJC in April 2019 was to seek training that would provide him with a good paying career job.  He completed the electrical trade at NTJC on April 1st 2021.  But he was not stopping there.  He saw the opportunity in Job Corps to get more training so he could achieve his goal.  Following in the footsteps of his parents and an older brother, who are Job Corps alumni, he charted his career path.  He received his OSHA 10 certification and electrical apprentice license.  He states that “my time at NTJC was good—I played sports, liked the food, and made good friends with the students and teachers.  I was the captain on the basketball team.  I had fun and learned a lot while I was there and I loved that the school offered so much for free.”  His goals are to work a couple of years in his trade and gain some experience before he starts his own electrical company and be his own boss. “I would tell other youth, you can do anything you put your mind to; some things will come easy and some will be a little harder, but anything is possible.  Just work hard for it and believe!”
