From the opening Pledge of Allegiance to the climatic moment when 40 graduates tossed their caps into the air, Northlands Job Corps Academy’s graduation ceremony was a non-stop story of success.
Center Director Jim Linday welcomed more than 150 parents, students and guests to the celebration. Vergennes Mayor Michael Daniels read a proclamation declaring August 30th to be “Job Corps Day.” Keynote speaker Sheena Brown, the dynamic Outreach and Admissions Coordinator from Brooklyn Job Corps Center, gave a stirring address that included having the graduates pledge to be the best they can be.
After the diplomas were presented, Mr. Linday presented the graduates to the audience, and caps were tossed into the air in celebration. A wonderful reception in the neighboring chapel, complete with delicious food provided by Northlands’ Culinary Arts students, completed the perfect day celebrating success, achievement and Job Corps.
