Northlands Students and Staff Honored by the United Way

Northlands' Culinary Arts students provide the delicious food.

The United Way of Addison County, Vermont recognized Northlands Job Corps Academy for its unique and innovative support for the “Live United” campaign. During the fall of 2010, Outreach and Admissions Counselor Meghan Burakowski helped to organize a variety of fundraising activities including bake sales, a food drive, a fundraising dance, donation jars in the students’ pay line, as well as a volleyball game between staff and students.

Her efforts and the eager participation of students and staff resulted in special recognition at the United Way’s recent Celebration of Community. Food for the event was provided by Northlands’ Culinary Arts students Nichole Fernandes, Kapresha Dew, Chris Knight-Cortese, Vincent Roman, Emily Rondeau and Mandy Dickerman with the guidance of instructor Chef Christopher Lavalette.
