Ashley Darby from Mendon, Vermont was very excited to be selected as one of two Northlands students to take part in Mentor a Job Corps Student Day last week. Ashley spent the day with the staff of Congressman Peter Welch at his district office in Burlington.

“I learned so much about what goes on behind the scenes,” Ashley said. “It was really cool.”

Ashley helped to look through newspapers for relevant articles, and learned firsthand how the staff works to help everyday people.

“They were all very busy,” she said. “The staff definitely wants to do everything they can to help Congressman Welch serve his constituents.”
