The new 121 foot tall wind turbine recently installed at the Northlands Job Corps Center in Vergennes, Vermont has generated plenty of favorable media coverage.
The turbine, built in Vermont by Northern Power Systems, will be owned and operated by Green Mountain Power, and Northlands will receive a credit equal to 10% of its output. The turbine is capable to of powering more than 20 homes.
Center Director Dennis Lamberd and spokesman Ian McGaughey were featured in the coverage, some of which can be seen at the following websites:

“It’s a terrific symbol for the Job Corps program,” McGaughey said. “The turbine is a very visible representation of our commitment to reducing CO2 emissions in Vermont and elsewhere.”
“Northlands has a long history of pursuing green initiatives,” Lamberd said. “The wind turbine is an important addition to that mission.”
Green Mountain Power hopes to expand the role of community-based wind projects around the state. Northlands’ turbine is the very first in that initiative.
