The lights went down and the screen went up at Northlands Job Corps Academy in Vergennes, Vermont as a new student-staff produced miniseries was unveiled for its debut showing.
“True Northlands” is a series of short films that highlight different aspects of life at Job Corps. “It’s an opportunity to have some fun and share some laughs about life at Northlands,” says Career Readiness counselor Josh Demers, who coordinated the production. “Many of our students act all the time. This was a natural.”
Student Sam Cook heard about the production and was eager to take part, playing the role of the object of a female student’s crush. “It was really fun,” he said. “Mr. Demers was great to work with. He brought out the hidden talents in everyone.”
After the enthusiastic response to the first three installments of the series, the students were eager to produce more. Stay tuned!
