Northland Job Corps Graduate Accepted Into Local #693 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Apprenticeship Program

Meleady Accepted into Prestigious Local #693 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Apprenticeship Program
Jackson Meleady, originally from Montpelier, VT has been accepted into the UA Local #693 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Apprentice Program based in South Burlington, Vermont.  On June 3, 2021, Meleady will be sworn into the union in Burlington and is excited to start his career in Chittenden County.
Meleady recently graduated from the Advanced Welding program at Northlands Job Corps Center. Through the UA Local #693 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Apprenticeship program, Meleady will learn Refrigeration, Plumbing, Oil and Gas Burners and receive licenses with the state of Vermont in these areas of training. During his apprenticeship program, Meleady will be employed at Mountain Air Systems, a full-service HVAC Mechanical Contractor and family-owned and operated business since 1985.
Meleady credits the Advanced Welding program at Northlands Job Corps Center for confirming his passion for welding. He reflected on his career choice,” I feel lucky to have found a career and field I love. I get to continue learning about welding and continue to focus on developing more skills in the field.”
Jim Blanchard, Advanced Welding Instructor at Northlands Job Corps said, “Jackson Meleady is the type of student that was always attentive to his assignments be it performance skills or academic goals. I only wish that our time together at Northlands could have been longer for him. Jackson is like a sponge and wanted to learn all he could. This opportunity does not come often to enter the Apprenticeship as they choose candidates when the time arrives for students who have graduated into journeyman status. “
Meleady looks forward to continuing to grow professionally in the welding field and build upon what he’s learned from Blanchard and Northlands Job Corps Center.
