Northlands students had the opportunity to learn about the challenging AmeriCorps NCCC program. Two representatives from the full-time, team-based residential program gave a presentation describing how teams of 10 members travel the country responding to disasters. They aid individual communities with a variety of direct-service activities from community projects to disaster relief.
The program is open to men and women ages 18 to 24. Successful applicants will receive training in CPR, first aid, disaster response, team building, diversity awareness, civic engagement and may be eligible to be certified to fight forest fires.
