Northlands welding student Steven Holbrook got the opportunity to spend a day recently with the staff of US Senator Bernie Sanders at his Burlington, Vermont office. Steven was able to spend time with each staff member, learning a little about the many things they do to serve the public.
Steven is Sergeant at Arms for the Student Government Association and involved in community service activities. He hails from East Berkshire, Vermont. “It was so interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes,” he said.
Steven’s visit was part of the nationwide Mentor a Job Corps Student Day, where students from Job Corps centers all across the country spent time at the local offices of their congressional representatives.
“I was really interested in what they’re doing to save energy, and to help make Vermont and all of the U.S. more energy independent,” Steven said.
