NOLA MEDICAL STUDENT INTERVIEWED ON WDSU-TV

New Orleans Job Corps Medical Office Support student Lequana Shaw told WDSU-TV’s (NBC) LaTonya Norton that, “Job Corps really helped me out a lot. It gave me the opportunity to get my diploma and a trade. It’s just a wonderful program and I would recommend it to a lot of folks.”

Lequana and the Center’s Business & Community Liaison, Randy Savoie, appeared as guests on Channel 6’s morning news program on Palm Sunday.

“After Job Corps, I plan on attending a junior college to help me go further into the medical field,” Lequana told Ms. Norton.

Savoie talked about the Center’s plans to partner with Dress for Success, a program that provides complimentary wardrobes to low-income job seekers. “They’ll (Dress for Success) outfit the students and conduct mock interviews with them as well to prepare them for a job interview.”

WDSU-TV’s Norton asked Lequana, who graduates this summer, about her recent experience as a Super Bowl ambassador. “It really was an exciting adventure. It gave me a chance to see a lot of things that I didn’t know existed in my own hometown.”
