BCL Randy Savoie spoke about New Orleans Job Corps’ many student success stories in 30 minutes of taped interview with Monica Pierre that will air on WWL Radio and Entercom New Orleans radio group’s other 5 five stations, Sunday, March 18.
Savoie told the stories of Kimberly, a Culinary Arts graduate, who now works in the kitchen in one of New Orleans’ finest restaurants- Red Fish Grill and Kenisha, also a Culinary completer, who is now the hiring manager at Carnival Brand foods. The New Orleans BCL also pointed to the Center’s many excellent employer partnerships including Touro Hospital and the historic Roosevelt Hotel, where former Governor Huey Long used to stay when he visited New Orleans back in the day.
Savoie added, “Job Corps Works for taxpayers, communities, employers and at-risk youth. And, at a time when youth unemployment is in double digits and the skills gap is growing exponentially, Job Corps is needed now more than ever,” and he encouraged listeners to the show to call and write letters to their Congressman in support of the program.
Tonight, Savoie will be tape an interview with Hal Clark on WQUE-FM, the city’s top-rated Urban radio station. The segment will air this weekend on Hal Clark’s Sunday Journal.
