The American Red Cross and the Clinical Medical Assistant (CMS) students successfully organized and hosted a blood drive on Friday, September 30, 2022 from 9:00am to 2:00pm in the gym at the New Hampshire Job Corps Center. The CMA students registered donors, provided refreshments, acted as runners to make sure donors made it to appointments, and sanitized tables for the Red Cross staff. 84 hospital patients’ lives were impacted by the 28 units of blood we collected.
Did you know:
- A pint of blood donated saves 3 lives?
- Red blood cells are used to treat cancer, surgery, and trauma patients
- Plasma often is needed to replace fluids in burn and trauma patients
- Platelets help cancer and bone marrow transplant patients recover
The CMS students will do this all over again in March of 2022.
