U.S. Representative shows Muhlenberg Job Corps Support

The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center was honored to host United States Representative, Ed Whitfield on Monday, August 3, 2015. The Congressman is no stranger to the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center, the Center considers him family. He is a friend and neighbor within the First District of Kentucky where he proudly serves 30 or more counties. He is also a great friend and advocate of fireman, policeman, farmers, the coal industry, and the military forces. He was welcomed by a wide variety of local officials, Job Corps staff, students, and military.

Whitfield addressed all who were present by saying, “Obviously, we’re all fans of the students of the Job Corps program. There is a lot of young people around our country with talent, a lot of ability, and because of circumstances they find themselves in, they never had the opportunity to utilize their full potential. Job Corps does provide that opportunity. He believes it is a very effective program for America’s disadvantaged youth. Every dollar that is spent on Job Corps really does provide a greater economic benefit because of the additional jobs that are created because of the training that the young people receive at Job Corps. The reason the program is so successful, in addition to the students, is because of the staff. The staff makes it work. Thank you for the continued leadership and I look forward to working with all of you to make Job Corps a stronger component of our education program in America.”
