Muhlenberg Job Corps – Work Based Learning Success Story
Ezra Taylor is a recent graduate of the Muhlenberg Job Corps program who completed a work-based learning assignment at the Greater Muhlenberg County Chamber of Commerce. Taylor completed the medical office support trades and has served the center as peer counselor, dorm coordinator, and was also a member of the S.A.V.E. (Students Against Violence Everywhere) club.
Ezra thoroughly enjoyed his time working at the chamber under the direct supervisor of Dorothy Walker, Chamber Secretary. Taylor stated, “First, I feel very blessed for the opportunity to meet all the great people at the Greenville and Central City chamber locations. I had so much fun working with Ms. Dorothy and Ms. Carmel Rich. I’m glad I was able to experience what a real workplace environment was like. Yes, I assisted Ms. Dorothy with everything, she had full trust in me; but we also had fun, we joked around, which made it so much more enjoyable.”
Dorothy Walker stated, “Ezra is one of the very best students I’ve had to work with me from the Muhlenberg Job Corps. I don’t have to tell him what to do, he has that inner work ethic instinct and gets the job done.”
Ezra is from Memphis, Tennessee and has two interviews lined up for when he returns home. He states his Job Corps experience has made him more humble and he’d like to tell future student graduates to never give up, keep one goal in mind and go for it.
