Going on a camping trip is such an exciting adventure, but when planning those special family trips, you have to ensure the site is safe. Often times at campsites, Mother Nature can take its toll on structure and appearance. At Lake Malone State Park in Dunmor, Kentucky the RV campsites have seen better days until recently.
Teresa Wells, Lake Malone State Park Director reached out to the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center for help since their funds are extremely limited. The heavy equipment operation instructors and students was more than willing to help. For several weeks the students have gained hands on experience with the Holland utility tractor and Kubota mini excavator, and learning carpentry skills while reinforcing the grounds walls of multiple campsites. The heavy truck driving course (CDL) was also able to assist by delivering loads of gravel for each site.
The park director stated, “The students are doing a great job and the campsites are starting to look amazing. I’m very impressed with their work and how polite and respectful the students have been.”
