Muhlenberg Job Corps Students Volunteer at LifeStyle Expo

The students of the Muhlenberg Job Corps get excited for any volunteer community service opportunity.  During the weekend of April 15-17, students volunteered their time to work at the Western Kentucky LifeStyle Expo in the Park.  The events that occurred during the expo consisted of an entrepreneur workshop, thumb picking showcase, wellness workshop, Spring fashion show, tethered hot air balloon rides, and two presentations by celebrity landscaper, Ahmed Hassan of HGTV  Yard Crashers.

Over the three day period, students set up multiple booth tents for forty five vendors, directed traffic, parked cars, set up a stage, and was overall assistants to the expo committee members.  Events such as this provides wonderful experience and opportunities for our students because it teaches social responsibility, how to work with others, and how to give back to their communities.  Volunteering is a tier within the centers Work-Based Learning program and this project totaled 108 WBL/Community service hours!

The center would like to thank the Greater Muhlenberg County Chamber of Commerce and LifeStyle Expo committee members for calling on our students to volunteer for this event.
