Muhlenberg Job Corps Students Conduct Community Service

On Saturday, September 14th, 2013 forty-five Muhlenberg Job Corps students were out volunteering at local charity and high school events in Muhlenberg County.

Thirty-eight of those students volunteered to park cars and assist at each of the twelve obstacles at the Heroes in Mud 5K Run held at the Muhlenberg County Convention Center. The Heroes in Mud was a charity event sponsored by Muhlenberg County 911, Central City Fitness Center, and Wendell H. Ford Training Site for a local fire fighter who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The run included an almost 4 mile mud run with twelve obstacles, and smaller obstacles for children. The students truly enjoyed their fun filled day in the mud and giving back to our community.

The remainder of the students of the Student Government Association and Peer Counselors from the Muhlenberg Job Corps also parked cars for the Muhlenberg County High School Cross Country Meet that was held at the East Campus. The students and chaperones directed traffic for over 800 visitors attending the meet.

The Muhlenberg Job Corps is a free career training educational facility for low income individuals ages 17-24. Individuals can train and earn certifications in Health Industry Careers or Heavy Equipment Operating careers.
