MJCC graduate, Kyara Wortham, has her sights set on being a nurse now that she has graduated from Muhlenberg Job Corps. Kyara attended Middle Tennessee State University prior to her enrollment in the Muhlenberg Jobs Corps program. She obtained 40 college credits with a 3.12 overall GPA, and recently received her acceptance letter to the University of Memphis for the fall 2019 semester.
Kyara was the graduate speaker for the Spring 2019 Muhlenberg Job Corps graduating class. Scottie Brooks, MJCC CDL instructor, said that he has been coming to graduations now for 13 years and has never heard a graduate speaker give a more powerful message.
Kyara started her speech with this sentence, “Everyday we face battles, whether they are external or internal, and what does this mean?” She also touched on the importance of the daily routine and the building of leadership skills that Kyara learned while at Muhlenberg Job Corps. Kyara shared that she needed a little push that she wasn’t getting back home, but received from MJCC, and this is what helped build this new found confidence to succeed again in life. Kyara said if she could give one bit of advice to new students then it would be, “Life is easier working together and helping one another.” Kyara, on behalf of MJCC, we would like to thank you for being so inspirational to so many students and staff.
God Bless on all of life’s endeavors.
