MUHLENBERG JOB CORPS STUDENT, SOLOMON TESFAMICHAEL, HAS BEEN AWARDED A FOUR YEAR SCHOLARSHIP TO ATTEND BEREA COLLEGE IN BEREA, KENTUCKY FOR THE FALL TERM OF 2012. THE SCHOLARSHIP FOR TUITION IS VALUED AT MORE THAN $100,000.
TESFAMICHAEL ENROLLED AT MUHLENBERG IN OCTOBER 2010 WHERE HE HAS COMPLETED HIS HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND BEEN AWARDED CERTIFICATES IN MEDICAL OFFICE SUPPORT AND PHARMACY TECHNOLOGY. TESFAMICHAEL CAME TO MUHLENBERG FROM ATLANTA, GEORGIA, AFTER COMPLETING HIS JOB CORPS STUDIES HE ENROLLED AT MADISONVILLE COMMUNITY COLLEGE. HE CURRENTLY HAS COMPLETED TWENTY-EIGHT COLLEGE HOURS AND IS TAKING THIRTEEN MORE HOURS DURING THE SUMMER SESSION. HE EARNED A SPOT ON THE DEANS LIST FOR THE FALL 2011 AND SPRING 2012 SEMESTERS.
BEREA COLLEGE IS WIDELY KNOWN FOR THE QUALITY OF ITS ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AND WAS THE SOUTH’S FIRST INTERRACIAL AND COEDUCATIONAL COLLEGE. BEREA CHARGES NO TUITION, ADMITTING ONLY ACADEMICALLY PROMISING STUDENTS, PRIMARILY FROM APPALACHIA, WHO HAVE LIMITED ECONOMIC RESOURCES. AT BEREA, TESFAMICHAEL PLANS TO FURTHER HIS STUDIES IN THE MEDICAL FIELD.
