On Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 the Student Government Association leaders of the Muhlenberg Job Corps Center reached out to educate young children about Patriot Day at the Muhlenberg South Elementary School.

The five student leaders of MJCC developed a Patriot Day booklet for the eighty one kindergarten students and shared with them the events that occurred on September 11, 2001. The leaders did not focus too much on the tragedy, but mostly on how important first responders such as firefighters, police officers, ambulance personnel, and doctors and nurses are to events such as the 911 attack. The children were asked who they considered to be their hero and the responses received were “my dad, my mom, superman, and superwoman.”

After the education segment, the children enjoyed cooling off with a red-white-blue Popsicle!
