On March 27th, representatives from Job Corps Centers operated by Horizons Youth Services were on Capitol Hill to report on Job Corps’ current program status as well as Job Corps’ many accomplishments. There were three topics focused on during the meeting with Congressman Comer: the need for continued government support; converging on the success of the program; and the HYS best practices model of offering additional programs outside that of just vocational training. Student success stories were shared with Congressman Comer along with nationwide statistical facts supporting these successes. The meeting concluded after Horizons Youth Services elaborated on their stance of going above and beyond the scope of just vocational training by offering additional life and social skill programs. This comprehensive training better prepares Job Corps students for today’s workforce.
