Muhlenberg Job Corps Heavy Equipment Operations Student Revisits Center

Nathan Johnson, who graduated from Muhlenberg Job Corps in September 2017, completing the Heavy Equipment Operations training program, returned to campus to talk with students about life after Job Corps.

Johnson now works as a heavy equipment operator for Mago Construction Company, LLC, out of Bardstown, KY. Johnson told students that the rules in place while he trained at Job Cops are standard at Mago, and that the rules at Muhlenberg Job Corps are designed to keep individuals safe in a real working environment. He also noted that the soft skills he learned at Job Corps, such as being punctual, coming ready to work and having good communication skills, are important to his employer.

Johnson is thankful for his experiences at Muhlenberg Job Corps, saying they are helping him succeed in his new career. “Take it (the Job Corps training) seriously,” he told students. “It is free training that can help you get to that next level in your career as well as in life.”
