The Muhlenberg Job Corps Center held their graduation ceremonies on Friday, November 14, 2014 with twenty seven students proudly walking the stage to receive their diplomas.
Staff, students, and family members were welcomed by graduate, Devin Rush who shared, “Today marks an important day in my life and in the lives of the graduates sitting before me. Before we get started with this ceremony, I ask that you look to the student next to you and say, “I see potential in you.” For those kind words can ignite a fire the world has never seen before. Because of that fire, it has brought each of these graduates to this very ceremony today.” Devin is a proud completer of the Certified Nursing Assistant trade.
Following the welcome, graduate speaker, Juwuan Davison shared his words of wisdom and encouragement to those still in training. In closing, Juwuan stated, “before you venture out with your certifications in hand, I challenge each of you to stop looking at them as a ticket to the good life, but instead look at them as a ticket to change the world. I leave you today with this quote from Apple co-founder and CEO, Steve Jobs, “your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice, and most importantly have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.” Juwuan has successfully compelted the Medical Office Support trade.
The BCL introduced graduation guest speaker, Jason Hasert. Hasert is a Field Representative for Senator Rand Paul who started working with the Senator right after he was sworn in as a member of the U.S. Senate in January 2011. Hasert lifted the student’ spirits and highly encouraged each one, as their right as a U.S. Citizen to be productive, successful citizens to make a different in today’s world.
Closing remarks were conducted by the Center Director, Eric Jones who distributed diplomas to each graduate.
