On Thursday, April 21 Muhlenberg Job Corps students and staff spruced up the center campus in honor of Earth Day Every Day. All fourhundred students and eighty staff members took the day off from classes to roll up their sleeves to plant trees, flowers, spread mulch and conduct general clean up of the center’s campus.
One year ago in April the Muhlenberg Job Corps was honored by the Department of Labor as the National Green Center Award winner. Since that time the center has held energy conservation contests in the dorms, energy conservation essay and poster contests and remodeled many buildings to make them more green friendly. Also in honor of Earth Day Every Day the staff and students will have a Blackout Cookout on Friday night April 22. During this event all non-essential lighting all over the center’s campus will be turned off to save energy. Muhlenberg has made “Going Green” a topic of conversation in the daily lives of their students and staff.
