Greenville, KY – Muhlenberg Job Corps’ students and staff participated in a masquerade murder mystery event, hosted by Lu-Ray Park and Amphitheater on Saturday, February 17th.
Three students and four staff members made up team “Thunderbolts” and took on nine community teams to solve the murder of “Sal Fee” (president of the billionaires club) at the masked event held at the Central City Convention Center in Central City, Kentucky. A team of actors provided clues and hilarious interaction with the crowd, before they allowed the ten teams to conduct investigations to solve the mystery. Students, Tyler Seals, Rachel Parsley, and Shattera Smith joined MJCC center director, Pete LaFleur, BCL Jodi Ashby, executive assistant Amy Kline, and center life director Cody Perry, along with Perry’s daughter and Ashby’s son, to form Team Thunderbolts.
In the end, team Thunderbolts solved the murder mystery and took home the winning prize of their “heart’s desire”, which in fine print, turned out to be a certificate and applause from everyone in attendance. Team “Thunderbolts” was so impressed with the event, and had so much fun solving the mystery, they suggested hosting a similar event for all MJCC students in the near future.
Shattera Smith, an MJCC student and Team Thunderbolts member, expressed her excitement over the event. “I had so much fun. The actors were so good and we all really got into it. I can’t wait to do it again!”
The number three center in the nation turned out to have the number one investigative team and is looking forward to a future rematch with our awesome community partners!
